California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen)

CALGreen is a state-mandated green building code for residential and non-residential construction. The CALGreen Code was developed to improve public health, safety and general welfare in building design and construction. It focuses on building’s plans and design, energy efficiency, water efficiency and conservation, material conservation and resource efficiency, and environmental quality. The CalGreen code was implemented on January 1, 2011 and continues to get updated. It is currently being operated under the 2016 CalGreen Code which became effective on January 1, 2017. The 2016 California Green Building Standards: Residential Guide can be found here: https://codes.iccsafe.org/public/chapter/content/2504/

There are a number of components that are compiled into the CALGreen Code with two-tier options to follow (Tier 1 or Tier 2). Various building departments in California require CALGreen Inspections / CALGreen Plan Check Sign-offs and/or (Green Books) CALGreen Documentation and Books. DuctTesters has Certified CALGreen professionals on the team to keep up with client needs and aspirations. To see more certifications our team holds, please see our Green Building Consulting page or contact us directly.
